Dr. Rosendo Estrada received a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from the University of Havana in 1988. After completing his undergraduate degree, he worked as a Research Scientist on the synthesis, purification and analysis of proteins and peptides at the Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (CIGB) in Cuba. Dr. Estrada has been always interested in science and research, but he was unable to pursue a higher education due to the limited resources in Cuba. All of this certainly changed after he came to United States and subsequently earned his American citizenship. After spending a year getting acclimated to the country, he immediately made full use of new opportunities available by enrolling in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Louisville, where he obtained a Master’s Degree and Ph.D. in Chemistry. Following his Ph.D., he worked as a postdoctoral researcher in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Bioengineering at the University of Louisville. He eventually joined PI as a Research Scientist in 2013, managing some of the most complex peptide projects, including synthesis, purification and solution phase post-synthetic modification. These encompassed folding of peptides with multiple disulfide bonds, conjugation, condensation, alkylation, cyclization via lactam, click, and staple reaction. For his hard work, dedication and his achievements as a peptide chemist, he was promoted to Director of Production two years later. Rosendo strives to ensure that peptides ordered from the customers should be of excellent quality and delivered to them on time. He is also the author of numerous publications and presentations.
